WASHINGTON — Pre-order stats for Forever stamps honoring four of Major League Baseball’s most iconic legends indicate that Ted Williams is in the leadoff slot for hits with 14,380 stamps sold. Joe DiMaggio is following with 10,100; Willie Stargell with 5,920; and Larry Doby batting cleanup at 4,700.

Jazz Festival Featured on Postage Stamp

Europa 2012 Visit Gibraltar Postage Stamps Released

The Europa 2012 stamp issue ‘Visit Gibraltar’ showcases the iconic, world famous Rock of Gibraltar.

Situated at the meeting place of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea the majestic limestone Rock of Gibraltar was known in ancient times as one of the ‘Pillars of Hercules’ standing majestically across the Strait of Gibraltar alongside the southern pillar that rises in the continent of Africa.

The 10p and 44p stamps depict magnificent aerial views of the rock, city area and harbour where the most famous cruise liners dock throughout the year.

The 42p stamp features the Moorish Castle’s Tower of Homage medieval fortification located in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve believed to have been built in AD 711.

Postage Stamps Feature Maori Rock Art

The issue, which includes six stamps, features rock art portraying legendary creatures and aspects of everyday life. It was developed by New Zealand Post in collaboration with the Ngāi Tahu Māori Rock Art Trust, and artist Dave Burke.

Māori rock art is evident throughout New Zealand and with the help of the Rock Art Trust, over 500 sites have been recorded in the South Island (Te Waipounamu) alone.

US - France Joint Issue Postage Stamps Honor

U.S. postage stamps are first to feature a QR Code
for smart phones.

NEW YORK — Music speaks an international language, crossing borders and oceans.

The U.S. Postal Service and La Poste of France celebrate a lively conversation between continents with the issuance of the Miles Davis and Edith Piaf stamps.

The U.S. version of the stamps, issued as Forever stamps, go on sale at Post Offices nationwide. The U.S. version and La Poste versions can be purchased in the United States online at and by phone at 800-STAMP24 (800-782-6724).

This is the first time the United States and France have jointly issued a stamp since 1989, when both countries honored the bicentennial of the French Revolution.
