Farming Celebrated on New Postage Stamps

The Farming Australia series continues with four additional stamps. The first European settlers arrived in 1788 with six head of cattle.

Today with over 23 million animals, Beef cattle are one of our major industries, farmed across much of Australia. Until the 1950s Australia's beef herd was dominated by Bos taurus cattle of British origin, such as Hereford, Aberdeen Angus and Beef Shorthorn.
