Folk Costumes of Ljubljana Theme of New Stamp

First Day of Issue: January 25, 2013 - Slovenia

Slovenia has issued a new postage stamp on the theme of Folk Costumes from Ljubljana.

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is centrally located in Slovenia in the Ljubljana Basin.

The stamp depicts a painting by Austrian artist Franz von Kurz Goldenstein (1807-1878) who settled in Ljubljana in 1834. In 1838 he painted the fisherman and his bridesmaid in order to present an image of the clothing of the people from the Ljubljana suburb of Trnovo.
