Moonwort and European Roller on Belarus Stamps

First Day of Issue: January 30, 2013 - Belarus

Belarus will issue a pair of new postage stamps in their series The Red Book of the Republic of Belarus.

The Belarus Red Book was created to protect rare and vanishing species of plants and animals.

The first stamp features Moonwort which is a small fern with fleshy roots and reproduces by shedding spores into the air.

The second stamp depicts a pigeon sized European Roller which is a bright and colorful bird featuring blue, brown, and black colors.

Both the Moonwort and the European Roller were added to the Red Book twenty years ago in 1993.
