Railway Stations Theme of Singapore Stamps

First Day of Issue: February 28, 2013 - Singapore

Singapore has issued a set of four new postage stamps featuring Historic Railway Stations.

In Singapore, the need for a rail system started as early as 1860s as materials and goods had to be moved efficiently to Keppel Harbour, themain point of the import/export trade. The first railway system in Singapore was limited to the island and it was only in 1923 with the construction of the causeway that a direct link with Johor, Malaysia was realized.
