Italy Stamp Celebrates Edict of Milan

First Day of Issue: April 5, 2013 - Italy

Italy has issued a new postage stamp celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan. The stamp is part of a joint issue with the Vatican City.

The Edict of Milan was an agreement in February 313 by Constantine I, emperor of the western part of the Roman Empire, and Licinius, a ruler of the Balkans. One of the items agreed to by the two rulers was that they would treat Christians benevolently.
