Landscape Paintings Theme of Australian Stamps

First Day of Issue: March 19, 2013 - Australia

Australia has issued a set of five postage stamps featuring landscape paintings drawn from the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Australia (NGA).

The paintings in this stamp issue show a range of Australian terrain that has captivated artists, from lush coastal regions to the dry interior.

The painting chosen for this stamp series were John Glover's Mr Robinson's house on the Derwent, Van Diemen's Land (c. 1838), Nicholas Chevalier's Studley Park at sunrise (1861), Eugene von Guérard's Dandenong Ranges from 'Beleura' (1870), Arthur Streeton's Land of the Golden Fleece (1926) and Hans Heysen's In the Flinders - Far North (1951).
